Outcome-based software development

One project, one company accountable, on a fixed fee and a fixed scope. You bring a defined problem and a budget. We deliver the project, whether that is custom software, an audit or a training program. If the work runs long, the extra time is our cost.

  • A fixed fee, agreed against a written scope before we start
  • One team, accountable from scope to handover
  • The code, the data and the roadmap stay yours

The real problem

You don’t have a shortage of vendors. You have a shortage of accountability.

Most leaders we meet have already decided what to build. What they cannot find is one company that will own the whole project and stand behind the date. At unosquare, owning the whole project is the offer.

The work gets split

Design goes to one vendor, the build to another, testing to a third. The integration nobody quoted for quietly becomes your job.

The ownership blurs

When something breaks between the pieces, every vendor points at a different one. You end up arbitrating your own project instead of running it.

The pattern repeats

The project gets shelved, not killed. It sits on the roadmap for another year and nobody ever starts it.

The project ships on the date we agreed, for the fee we agreed.

Projects

Three kinds of outcome

You bring a defined problem and a budget. We fix the scope and the fee, then deliver.

Software Development

Best for
New products · Modernization projects · Fixed-scope delivery
What you get
Production software, security-tested and documented. The code is yours from the first commit.
Who manages it
We do, end to end. You review working software every week.
How it’s priced
A fixed fee against a written scope. MVPs typically run $75K to $150K.
Typical start
Scope discovery and a working prototype, then a scope proposal and fixed fee for you to approve. A mid-sized build, for example, can reach production in 8 to 12 weeks.

Who does the work

Every project runs with senior engineers, a designer and a solution architect. We staff onshore, nearshore or offshore depending on what the work needs.

An important distinction

Four options. Only one delivers a finished project.

This is software development outsourcing with the ownership attached. We own the project from scope to handover, and your team gets work it can run without us.

A consulting firm

You get

A strategy deck

The gap

You still need someone to build it

A software vendor

You get

A license to their product

The gap

You run the same tool as your competitors

A team you manage

You get

Engineers on your org chart

The gap

You pay for their time, not the outcome

unosquare Outcomes

Working software in production, and the code is yours.

Some teams need engineers rather than a finished project. Our People models cover that.

How it works

Scope it. Build it.
Hand it over.

You approve the plan and the fee before we build anything.

An example, not a promise. A mid-sized custom software build typically runs like this, and your scope sets your dates.

What we need from you Approve the scope and the fee before we start. Review the work once a week. Set the acceptance criteria and call it done. No standing meetings to staff. No backlog for your team to groom.

Week 0 · Scope

A working prototype before you commit to anything.

In scope discovery we work out what the software has to do and build a version you can click through and react to. Then you get a scope proposal and a fixed fee to approve.

Week 1 · Architecture

Designed to fit what you already run.

We design the architecture against the systems it has to live in, then start security, testing and documentation in the same week. Production-bearing from the first commit, not patched in at week eleven.

Weeks 2 to 10 · Build

Working software every week, not a status report.

You check running software against what you approved as it is built, so nothing drifts.

Weeks 11 to 12 · Handover

Your team picks it up and runs.

We clear the remaining detail, finish the documentation and hand over. You get a session with the engineers who wrote it, then your team runs it.

12 weeksKickoff to go-live

McGraw Hill: kickoff to go-live in 12 weeks on a live revenue system, no scope cuts.

Assessments, audits and training follow the same path on a shorter clock: scope discovery, a scope proposal, a fixed fee and your approval before any work starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Outcome-based software development is project-based work on a fixed fee. unosquare delivers it for custom software, assessments, audits and workshops, with onshore, nearshore or offshore teams. You define the result and the acceptance criteria. We agree a written scope, the fee and a date with you, then own everything from kickoff to handover. If the work takes us longer than we planned, the extra time is our cost.

We carry the delivery risk. Time and materials leaves the risk with you. You approve one fixed price and one date against a written scope, and if the build takes us longer than we planned, the extra time is our cost. Change what you want built and we re-scope, then give you the new number before any work changes.

We manage the project: scope, delivery and handover. You get a delivery lead who answers for the result and a weekly review of the work. You don’t project-manage us.

Yes. Some clients hand us the whole build. Others hand us the piece their team cannot get to. The scope names which parts are ours and which stay with you, down to where our work meets your systems and who owns each interface.

Most software outsourcing companies sell time. You pay for engineers’ hours, and the delivery risk stays with you. We sell the outcome: a fixed fee against a written scope, one company answering for the date and code you own from the first commit. If the build runs long, the extra time is our cost.

We place engineering teams every day, so we get it. For ongoing capacity, hire engineers: our staff augmentation model does exactly that. For a defined project with a deadline, we can deliver the finished product faster and cheaper than you could recruit and ramp a team. You still review the work every week, set the acceptance criteria and own what we build. Same control, shorter path.

Every project has a fixed fee, set against the size and complexity of the work. Custom software MVPs typically run $75K to $150K. Assessments, audits and training cost less, and many clients start there before a build. Either way, we start with a 30-minute call.

We are SOC 2 and HIPAA compliant. Engagements normally start on our MSA, and we can usually sign yours instead. Tell us what your security and procurement teams need and we will work through their list with them.

Yes. Every project ships with full documentation, a structured handover and a stability period. You own the work: no proprietary tooling, no license and no ongoing dependency on us. Teams that want ongoing production support can move to managed IT services. The build works without it.
