New Path Forward for Browning Trail Camera – Prometheus

7 years connecting devices, data, and users beyond signal range.

Results

App store rating jumped from 2.2 to 4.6 stars after launch.

Supported expansion from 2 camera models to 12+ device integrations.

Delivered faster image retrieval and real-time data sync in low-signal areas.

Sustained 7 years of partnership and continuous modernization.

Highlights / Intro

Browning Trail Cameras and Strike Force Wireless set out to make wildlife monitoring and security more intelligent, seamless, and mobile.

They needed a cross-platform application that could connect users to their cameras in remote environments, manage multiple devices, and retrieve data faster than ever.

unosquare partnered with Strike Force to design, build, and evolve a platform that today connects thousands of outdoor enthusiasts and professionals to their field cameras through a modern, reliable interface.

Challenge

The original app struggled with inconsistent performance, slow data retrieval, and limited device compatibility.

As user demand grew, Strike Force needed a scalable system that could handle more cameras, improve speed, and deliver a better user experience across devices—all without compromising stability in remote areas.

Solution

unosquare designed and developed a mobile and desktop application built to handle real-world challenges; data-heavy image transfers, varying network conditions, and hardware-specific integrations.

Using React Native and Rails, the new platform merged performance, scalability, and intuitive design, ensuring that users could monitor their cameras anytime, anywhere.

Prometheus Group is one of the leading providers of trail cameras (Browning is one of their biggest clients). They built a new model of trail camera that sends/receives its photos and other information through a cellular network – a convenient alternative to other camera models that only operate through WiFi. We worked with the client on a web app, mobile app and API.

The goals were to: Prometheus needed an API that the camera could communicate with over a cellular network. They also needed a web app, and mobile app to offer to their customers, allowing them to remotely monitor their cameras and photos.

  • Effectively communicate with the team that was building the camera hardware
  • Build simple and straightforward user interfaces
  • Enable push notification/OneSignal integrations
  • Enable Mapbox integration

Our crew decided that React would be the best solution for the web app due to its compositional nature and speed of development. React Native was the solution for the mobile app for the same reasons. Along with being able to target multiple platforms (iOS and Android) with a single code base.
