AthenaHealth offers cloud-based solutions to manage electronic health records (EHR), revenue
cycle, patient engagement, care coordination, and population health. Our partnership is based
around three main objectives:
1. Team up with with their software modernization project, mostly from Perl and Oracle,
migrating them to cloud microservices using AWS.
2. Maintaining legacy code written in Perl.
3. Collaborating in creating new software for the business needs of the company, such as the
development of a new Patient Experience Area.
Moreover, we collaborate to increase capacity in their Collector, Scheduling, Telehealth, Claims,
and Dental Claims areas. unosquare was AthenaHealth’s first nearshore partner, beginning as a
pilot test with 4 developers in the Submission area. After 2 years, we have 35 professionals.

• Athena has little to no external contractors and/or partners apart from unosquare, as they have been
historically reluctant to outsource business critical workstreams. Our commitment to the quality of
staff, as well as cost savings for Athena, has been key for growing our partnership.
• In all projects in which we have at least one collaborator, we have delivered on our 2024 objectives
and goals on time; in one case in the Telehealth area we even ended earlier than expected.
• During a complex Dental Claims modernization process, the stage in which we were involved was
successfully completed on time and in the correct manner.
• unosquare introduced inclusion of a QA team and Scrum Masters as part of Athena’s development
cycle (QA was previously done by developers). unosquare plans, manages, and staffs 100% of the
QAs and Scrum Masters in the team.
